Bringing the older LGBTQ+ generations on board for Pride
Of the 60,000 attendees at Dublin Pride 2018, less than 1% were over the age of 65. Despite their crucial role in the queer liberation movement, this generation had often been forgotten and were more likely to have become disconnected from the LGBTQ+ community. So, although they’d never needed it more, they couldn’t find a way in to Pride.
We wanted to rectify this by giving them the Pride they never had. So we created a new bus route to bring them back into the community. On one very special bus, the generations came together and travelled The Long Road to Pride. Our film not only captures this journey, but members of this older generation sharing their stories, giving us an emotional insight into some of their struggles along the way.
