Christmas was becoming the Super Bowl for Irish telecoms, with the majority of prepay sales happening over the Christmas period. We needed to “Win Christmas” by blasting through the other brand noise out there somehow.
We created an entirely new company Called Christmas LTD, lead by a misanthropic shark of a businessman called Nicholas St Wenceslas whose sole purpose was to rip people off at Christmas and spent Meteor’s entire budget advertising them instead.
This was Meteor’s most ambitious campaign ever, Christmas LTD was brought to life on every platform possible – with four TV ads, a host of social content, and his own online store where he sold overpriced festive tat. He hired interns on LinkedIn, did live interviews on national radio and even released his own album on Spotify. Nicholas was ubiquitous.
It was Meteor’s most successful campaign ever. Meteor achieved the highest visibility among telecom providers across all social platforms, seeing an incredible 65% increase in online sales as compared with the previous year.
